If you just want an enclosure that will sit on your desk and does the job without breaking the bank this enclosure would likely work.
The included screws are in place but are much too small to actually screw into the hard drive and therefore only hold the top part of the enclosure in place. I believe if this chassis existed the drive would fit better but, as is, my HDD moves around within the enclosure and doesn't feel very secure. The instructions mention a chassis that was not included with the enclosure that should be removed and have the drive placed within it. Where this product loses points for me is how the drive itself fits in the enclosure. I put my drive in, plugged in it, flicked the on switch and my computer picks it up. Overall Review: I bought this enclosure to put my old macbook harddrive in after replacing it with an SSD and for that task it does the job. The DC input jack isn't useful at all, considering the drive is powered by one or two USB ports and there wasn't an included adapter or a listing for voltage anywhere (As far as I know). Overall Review: The One-Touch-Backup (OTB) feature might be useful, though I didn't bother installing the software. The carrying case is pretty cheap looking, I wouldn't bother with it because it wouldn't fit the cable anyways. The silver rim around the device seems to have some imperfections, it seems like the excess plastic wasn't quite trimmed enough, though it doesn't really effect build quality or aesthetics. It might be useful for more power-hungry drives, though I would prefer if I had a standard cable for it. The supplied cable is unnecessary for most computers and drives, as one USB cable is enough to power it on all my machines. It was nice to reuse an old 160 GB laptop hard drive from a broken Acer netbook.Ĭons: There aren't any major faults with it, so I'm just nitpicking. Repeat to uninstall each USB controller one by one. Right-click on the USB controllers of your external drive and select 'Uninstall device'.

Open 'Device Manager', find and expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. The light isn't blindingly bright and covering it with some tape to reduce it's brightness would be super easy.
